I used underpowered gear so Rathalos had tons of time to go to that spot - he just never did. It might have been the case in the second generation too but frankly I've killed a lot of Rathalos on that map in gen 2. I didn't like the base World at all but Iceborne is great and it makes me think MH6 might actually become my favorite in the series once we get it.Ībout the old games - Rathalos sleeping in unreachable spot was a thing. The only thing that really is wrong with World is that it needs way more refinement so the new formula can provide good challenge and monsters that work really well with the changes that have occured. Of course all these games have problems - nothing is perfect. World has problems, MH4U has problems, MH3 has problems, so on and so forth. Why do people ignore the bad portions of previous games? Not everything about them was good, and saying that they were only good is straight up false. It keeps immersion (if you really care about that) and doesn't disrupt the flow of gameplay. It could even mess with mounts! Having a continuous map with no load zones between zones is better in every single possible way. Monsters fighting near loading zones were apparently extremely difficult to fight, as if you went too far, you would be dragged out of anything you're doing to wait through the loading screen, then walk back in to see another loading screen. There's also the loading zones in previous games, which to be fair was caused by hardware limitations (Can't load the entire map at once). If this happened in World, you would just get slinger ammo to shoot a rock at them from a distance. Apparently it's possible in a certain area for Rathalos to straight up sleep in an unreachable position that has a lava pool on all sides, and IIRC, you can't wake them up if you don't have a ranged weapon. One of the main things that deters me from playing the previous titles is all of the jank i've heard of there. I've never played previous games, but i'm considering going through them just out of curiosity to see what they were like.
